#ICYMI: Last weekend we celebrated Senior Prom’s #ICYMI: Last weekend we celebrated Senior Prom’s 25th anniversary with our fabulous 50+ clients and residents. Kiera Pollock, director of Senior Services, shared that this event was created to give our older adults the opportunity to attend prom with their chosen partners, which wasn't always safe in the past. We enjoyed a splendid night of great food, lively sounds, and camaraderie. Check out the photos captured in our handmade Photo Booth by @mammothsprite and experience the happiness beaming from our seniors!

We couldn’t have made this night possible without the generous support of our partners; @tiffanyandco, @weareangelcity, @charlotteswebcbd, @sprinklescupcakes , and @bluebottle

“It’s time to depict a more modern and nuanced “It’s time to depict a more modern and nuanced version of the classic American cowboy,” says photographer @lukegilford, whose latest project “National Anthem” documents America’s gay rodeo subculture and the beauty of chosen family. “These are real people who felt like outsiders where they live, so they came together to create their own safe spaces in America’s South and Southwest. To me, they are returning the promise of America—reclaiming the freedom and power to be whatever you want to be.” For #CenterYourPride, Luke reminds us of the resilience, power, and beauty of LGBTQ+ people in all parts of the country. “Queer people are everywhere—not just in cities—and those folks need our love, support, representation and resources too.”

Today’s #SCOTUS ruling—a decision that comes o Today’s #SCOTUS ruling—a decision that comes on the last day of #Pride Month that allows a private business to discriminate against members of a protected class— is a manufactured tactic from the political playbooks of the same far-right, white Christian extremists who are helping to craft the 500+ pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation ravaging the country right now. “Rather than reinforce secularism, which is foundational to our nation and our liberties, the Court is now allowing private businesses to openly discriminate against marginalized communities, which could include members of the Muslim faith, the Jewish faith, BIPOC communities, and beyond,” said Joe Hollendoner, Chief Executive Officer at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Our movements have always resisted against the structures that cannot contain us, including the Supreme Court. It’s time to go back to the roots of our movements, organize, and fight back. The Center is committed to providing safety for our community, and fighting on the front lines every day until, once again, we all win.
